Sore bleeding gums may be a sign of gingivitis or a more serious condition called periodontal disease. This condition is the most common factor behind adult tooth loss.
Untreated periodontal disease increases the risks associated with health issues such as diabetes, stroke, heart disease and low birth weight babies. The risk for periodontal disease increases with age, poor oral hygiene, and smoking.
One of our most recent upgrades in preventative treatment is periodontal laser therapy (PLT). PLT helps to control active periodontal disease and moderate to severe gingivitis.
In our office we use the Odyssey diode laser to target the disease causing bacteria within the gum pockets. Using the laser at a low setting our hygienists help to heal sore and bleeding gums and reverse deep pockets. The laser targets and kills the bacteria leaving an environment that helps your body to heal itself without the need for expensive medications or costly surgeries. It is the most non-invasive and effective treatment available at this time.
Please contact our office to see if PLT is right for you.
